Biography

Professor Ineta Dabašinskiene is an internationally renowned researcher. She is a Professor of Linguistics at the Department of Lithuanian Studies and Head of the Research Centre for Multilingualism at Vytautas Magnus University. Her research interests include a wide spectrum of language issues: language policy and multilingualism, monolingual and multilingual language acquisition, heritage and minority languages, and languages in education.

Prof. Dabašinskienė has published and co-edited numerous research studies and a number of scholarly articles in Lithuanian and international scientific journals. Prof. Dabašinskienė is also a member of the editorial boards of several national and international scientific journals and participates in the activities of various scientific associations and professional organizations. She has coordinated numerous national and international research and educational projects, which have received international recognition for their quality, relevance, and dissemination of innovative ideas. Her international expert activities include developing international joint degree master's programs, working in the High-Level Group on Multilingualism under the European Commissioner for Multilingualism, European Commission research program projects, the European Union Framework Program, and the Lithuanian and Estonian Research Council.

Her former positions at VMU include Head of the Regional Studies Department (Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy), Dean and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Diplomacy, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, and Vice-Rector for International Relations. Since 2010, Prof. Dabašinskienė has been a member of the VMU Senate and the chairperson of the VMU Research Committee, and since 2011, the chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Joint Doctoral Committee of Philology.
